Amazon has released an update for its third generation Kindle and the Kindle 3G. The update, which can be installed manually from here, adds a lot of features including proper page numbers and public notes.
The update brings public notes for you to share notes and annotations you’ve made. With the feature, you will be able to make your book notes and highlights available for others to see.
Rather than adding page numbers that don’t correspond to print books, which is how page numbers have been added to ebooks in the past, the update will bring real page numbers that correspond directly to a book’s print edition.
You will also get a new newspaper and magazine layout.
The “Before You Go” page that has been added at the end of each ebook will prompt users to rate a book or share it on social networks, and then offer personalized recommendations. It will also be showing more titles by the same author.
But it will surely be disappointing for the owners of the second-generation Kindle that the update is not available for their devices.
