The tech press had, a while back, been abuzz with problems that Apple TV brought in to customers. The problem stemmed from screen flickers triggered by the last software update. Apple, who jumped into trouble shooting mode, has come up with an update that effectively fixes the bug.
The new update – version 4.2.1 – has been deployed and it looks like troubles are over – at least for now. Users have already reported that the screen flicker issue has been successfully addressed. Moreover, the update has also ushered in improved TV compatibility too.
CNet has been after the update and has reported that the latest version 4.2.1 has come with enhanced TV compatibility that helps address issues leading to the screen flicker complaint. Another problem that has been done away with concerns Apple TV’s hesitation to wake up from sleep.
These apart, the version 4.2.1 update has also thrown out of the window issues relating to audio, that had sparked off complaints that voice wasn’t audible on some TV models when switched from another input.
The update has also brought in a good amount of stability and performance fixes for Apple TV.
Apple had been engaged in firefighting following graphics bugs on MacBook Pro devices with an OS X 10.6.7 update. The screen flicker issue on Apple TVs came about as an added challenge.
