Canon brings a new rugged digital camera, the PowerShot D20 built for active photographers, which is the successor to the D10. The new D20 is waterproof to 33 feet (10 meters), shockproof to withstand up to 5.0 feet (1.5 meter) drop, temperature-resistant from 14°F to 104°F, and dustproof. It sports 12.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor, and features HS SYSTEM for enhanced low-light shooting performance.
The PowerShot D20 is equipped with a 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD screen. It has built-in GPS capabilities for tagging photos with latitude, longitude, and elevation information and for users to track their locations. The camera includes the Intelligent IS function that automatically chooses from six different modes to optimize image stabilization for shooting condition. It records Full HD 1080p video and has a dedicated movie button. Users can zoom while video recording and there is a HDMI output for showing images and videos on a bigger screen HDTV.
Coming in May, the Canon PowerShot D20 will be available for $349.99 in blue. Yellow and Silver models will be released in Europe.
