Other than the JZ250 and JZ100 8x zoom cameras, FujiFilm adds five new models to its JX-series, including the FinePix JX700 (aka JX710), JX580 (JX590), JX550, JX520 and JX500. These affordable cameras has a compact design and are easy to use. All of them are equipped with a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens, and support 720p HD movie recording.
The JX700, JX580, JX550 come with 16 Megapixel CCD image sensor while the JX520 and JX500 get 14 Megapixel sensor. Except for the JX580 and JX520 with 3-inch LCD screen, the other three models sport a 2.7-inch LCD display. All these compact cameras feature Automatic Scene Recognition (SR Auto) mode, which detects the type of scene being photographed and automatically adjusts the camera’s settings to suit, Tracking Auto Focus, Face Detection, Motion Panorama mode and Digital Image Stabilization. They all has a dedicated movie recording button.
FujiFilm is going to release the JX580 and JX500 in the US in February for $119.95 and $99.95, respectively, in black, red and blue colors. Also to be launched in the States is the FinePix AX550, which is a varaint of the JX500 using AA batteries instead of Li-ion battery. The AX550 will be available in black, in March for $89.95.
