![]() There have been speculations about the unveiling of the Google Nexus One Android powered smartphone today and the stance should be clear by 1 p.m. (New York time) because that is when the Android Press Gathering begins. The Android device that has been assembled by HTC is already a popular smartphone (thanks to some real hype building) and all eyes will be set on the event hoping for the probable iPhone killer to arrive. A simple list of details will not please the onlookers for they are available all over the web and therefore a thorough unveiling is what Google should go ahead with today. Some do call Nexus One the iPhone killer (that includes us) but the fact that Android only has 16,000 apps compared to the 100,000+ at the App store tells us the difference at the ground level. The good thing is Nexus One pips the iPhone with its 5MP camera assisted by an LED flash and the auto-focus technology. We’ve already been told that an unlocked Nexus One will directly retail for $530 and therefore the unveiling becomes important today as we can then justify or be caustic about that price tag.
