Sure, we all hoped for the actual iOS 4.1, but it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer until we get there. On the other hand, the iOS 4.01 is already up for download and you can go grab it right now. There have been some interesting changes to the OS, one of which addresses some common concerns that have been talked about lately.
There’s now an improved (in Apple’s words) formula which is used to calculate how many bars should be displayed for the signal strength. Does this sound related to any of the latest issues the device has been having? While we can’t see how this will actually help users get a better reception (because really, this will just show you how bad your reception is in the first place), it should at least help more accurately determine the proper holding positions for the device.
Apart from that, there’s an upcoming update for the iPad iOS which should bring it up to version 3.2.1. Look out for that one if you’ve got an iPad too.
