Verizon Wireless may not have officially announced the Motorola Droid 2 handset yet, but the smartphone has made an appearance in the mobile carrier’s summer device catalog that has been leaked on to the Internet. Certain low-specification phones have also been revealed to become available soon in the catalog.
The summer-fall handset catalog also confirms some of the rumored specifications of the Droid 2, including the market name and the presence of a 1GHz processor in the device. A 5 megapixel camera has also confirmed to be a part of the handset, which will be capable of functioning as a 3G mobile hotspot as well. A memory card with 8 GB capacity will also be pre-installed in the device.
However, the catalog does not mention a specific release date for the phone and lists it as “coming soon”. The other high-end smartphone in the catalog, the Droid X, will be officially launched on July 15.
The leaked catalog also states the low-end Pantech Jest phone as due to launch soon, though the device is already available in the market. Other low-end phones such as the Intensity 2 and Gusto from Samsung and the Verizon Wireless Salute have also been revealed by the catalog to become available soon.
