It is hard to understand why these Android OS updates take longer than anticipated and this is the ‘only’ reason which makes me hate Android at times. In some other corner of the world the Google Nexus One received the update ’some decades ago’ while the Orange HTC users are still craving the Eclair update.
The good news though is that both HTC and Orange have issued a joint statement mentioning that the Orange HTC Hero handsets will start receiving the updates beginning next week.
Both have apologized for the delay in the update release stating reasons that the update tests across Europe took them more time than usual, which annoyed the handset owners. As Orange customers wait in anticipation, the word on the street is that a few customers have already started getting the first ‘dossier’ of the update while the rest of it will be rolled out by the end of this week.
We are happy for the Orange UK customers as they can now feel the difference with some Eclair goodness, but at same time, we hope Orange and HTC realize that there many customers who are expecting Froyo in the not so distant future, forget Eclair.
