Panasonic has just announced five new Lumix compact digital cameras, featuring both the new Venus Engine VI and the Venus Engine HD II which are supposed to be faster and have better noise reduction. Another new thing about these cams is that they will support the upcoming SDXC standard, allowing the use of memory cards larger than 32GB. See below for pecs and details on each model.
Starting from the top-left, going clockwise:
DMC-FX66 – This one has a 14.1 megapixel sensor combined with an F2.8-5.9 25-125mm ( 5x zoom) ultra wide angle lens. It comes with Power U.I.S lens-shift stabilization. It can shoot 720p HD video and has a 2.7-inch 230kdot preview screen. And to top it all, it weighs only 5.11 ounces with the battery
DMC-TS2(FT2) – This one has a lot of features similar to the one above. Same sensor, same image stabilization, same screen etc. But it supports AVCHD Lite 720p video format, F3.3-5.9 28-128mm ( 4X zoom) lens and has three extra scene modes. The TS2 is also much more rugged with being water-proofed upto 10m, Shockproof to 2m, Freeze proof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit and dustproof. It weighs in at 6.63 ounces including battery.
DMC-ZS5 ( TZ8) and DMC-ZS7 (TZ10) – These two models can almost be called as twins except for a few small differences. The ZS5 is the lower end version with a smaller screen and lacking GPS, AVCHD Lite and the mini HDMI port available in the ZS7. They both have 12.1 megapixel sensors, F3.3-4.9 25-300mm (12x) lens with lens-shift stabilization, and identical scene and focus modes. The cameras weigh 7.55 ounces and 7.69 ounces respectively with battery.
DMC-ZR3(ZX3) – This is another 14.1 megapixel camera that supports AVCHD Lite. It is almost identical to the TS2 except for the lens (F3.3-5.9 25-200mm 8x ultra-wide-angle) and the lack of ruggedness found in the TS2. It weighs in at 5.61 ounces with battery.
Only the specs have been announced and no prices or availability data has been revealed yet.
