Acer Aspire One A110

Outside of the Asus Eee series, the Acer Aspire One models are the best-known netbooks on the market. Currently two models of the Aspire One A110 range are available, one featuring flash (SSD) storage and the other a more traditional hard drive. Read TechRadar’s Asus Eee PC 1000 review Here we’re looking at the 8GB SSD model, which has recently dropped to an extremely tempting price point – if you look around online you’ll find it for a recession-mocking £139. Cosmetically Acer has made a big deal with curves on the Aspire One. The lid and underside bend

Acer Tempo M900

The Acer M900 is the third handset of the quartet announced by Acer after it took over the Glofiish brand of Windows Mobile smart phones last year and it’s the chunkiest of the bunch thanks to its slide-out QWERTY keyboard. But while its box-like proportions won’t win any beauty contests, it’s still a well-specced device for a relatively modest price, with quad-band network connectivity, 5 megapixel camera, 3.8-inch LCD touch screen, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and FM radio. It also livens up the basic Windows Mobile 6.1 OS with the Acer Shell user interface, which looks

Acer Aspire Timeline 5810T

Though the Acer 5810T boasts a large 15.6 inch screen, its light and thin build means that you won’t be bogged down by this laptop when you’re taking it out and about. The 5810T’s body is an attractive metallic grey made out of plastic that while sturdy, is light enough to keep the weight of the laptop to around 2.4 kg. The big feature of the 5810T is the large battery life. Acer is keen for this laptop to be used for ‘all day computing’. Whilst it won’t manage a whole day of heavy use away from a power supply, the 5810T can manage around

Acer Aspire One 751

The Acer Aspire One is a prime example of the new breed of netbook. It’s an attractive looking machine, and is available in four different colours. It’s obvious that Acer want you to show off your Asipre One when out and about. As it weighs less than a kilo you will have no problem carrying it around with you. The flat keys of the keyboard feel a bit strange at first but it’s a small price to pay for getting such a slim computer. The Aspire One has enough power for running Windows XP smoothly, though it struggles a bit with demanding applications. Websites can

Acer unveils world’s first Android netbook

Acer has announced that it will be bringing the world’s first Android netbook, part of the Aspire One range, promising a faster connection to the internet. The company plans to bring the unit to the masses in Q3 this year, so if we squeeze our eyes shut and hope as hard as we can, it could even be here by July. But it probably won’t. Not only will this be the world’s first Android netbook, but Acer has also pledged that "majority of Acer netbooks will also offer Android in the future." Psychedelic fusion Acer also believes that the

Acer Aspire 4810T

Acer’s recently released Timeline range is ideal for corporate users, with machines offering great portability, style and comfort. The Aspire 4810T is a 14-inch machine and a truly great choice for the busy commuter. The most noticeable thing about this laptop is its compact size, as it features a very thin chassis. Not only does this mean it slips easily into laptop bags, but it also helps to deliver an ultraportable weight of just 2kg. The screen strikes a great balance between size and usability, and the widescreen aspect ratio creates more than enough space to open

Acer Aspire One Pro 531 unveiled

Acer has added a ‘professional’ netbook to its popular Aspire range – with the Acer Aspire One Pro 531 arriving. Although it’s ostensibly aimed at the business user, the Acer Apire One Pro 531 brings ‘up to’ 7.5 hours battery life and weighs in at just over a kilo. Get things done Some may suggest that Acer is running the risk of getting its non-Pro models labelled Amateur with its badging, but the company insists that hardcore workers are desperate for a ‘second or third computer to be carried along at all times to get

Acer joins OHA – promises Android in Q4

Acer has announced plans to join the Open Handset Alliance – the group behind the Android OS – and will launch its first effort in Q4 2009. Acer had previously mentioned such plans earlier this year when it announced its latest range of E1, C1, L1 and F1 smartphones. Followed up Aymar de Lencquesaing, senior corporate VP for Acer, said the company would be launching one of the phones later in the year, and has since followed up on that promise by taking the necessary steps and joining the OHA. This means that Acer – which previously bought
