A recent Netflix survey asked an interesting question. “How likely would you or someone in your household be to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on your iPhone via a Wi-Fi network?” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings did say that Netflix streaming would come to the iPhone “eventually”. Apparently they are gauging the interest and getting ready.

Hopefully they can offer just such an app without running into too much trouble from the studios who are always worried about their rights.

Buzzie, the first iPhone app aimed at users of Google’s new social networking tool Google Buzz is now in the iTunes App store. The app allows non-Buzz users to tune into Buzz conversations in their local area without logging into the service.

Once logged in, you can start conversations, or join in with your followers. You can also mark your Buzz as private or public and decide whether you want to publish your location, which is selected using the iPhone’s GPS.

If you spot someone new having a conversation with someone you follow,

Seems like everyone is addicted to Facebook now. If you are one of those millions, then you might want to check out what Microsoft has in store for you if you are a Windows Mobile user.

Specifically Facebook app version 1.2. Some of the main feature updates include the ability to “like” a comment, or to add to current comments. Why not go ahead and download Microsoft’s latest app from the marketplace and get more out of Facebook on your phone?

Amazon is now adding BlackBerrys to the list of Kindle-compatible devices, while reminding us that it’s working on Mac and iPad versions of the software. The app is a free download for Americans and offers the same functionality as the PC and iPhone versions.

There’s also an in-app book store and you can create bookmarks and view annotations from other portable Kindle readers. Better go download it and get your reading on you digital bookworms.

Google's been doing some pretty slick stuff with QR codes lately, and now it looks like The Weather Channel's getting in on the fun -- it's running a little on-screen graphic prompting Android owners to download their app by scanning their TV screens. Sure, it's not the craziest thing in the world -- it just takes you to the Android market listing -- but it's certainly fun, and one of the more mainstream uses of QR codes we've seen in a while. Check the video after the break.

Update: We originally said it takes you to the webpage; in actuality,

Looks like the Kindle now has a worthy arch-enemy. Apple’s iPad has an ebook store called “iBooks”. (What else?) The publishers include all of the big players: Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Hachette.

Apparently the books won’t be cheap, which means publishers can stay in business longer. You can probably expect price wars very soon. The example book is a hefty $15. Interestingly, Apple is using ePub, which means books from other stores may work as well.

The Apple tablet is just minutes away, but software developers are seeing sunrise already. Around 550 developers surveyed by developer tools maker Appcelerator Inc have hinted at this. It has been revealed that nine out of 10 software developers said that said they have lined up plans to create an Apple tablet application by 2011.

Respondents have added that the upcoming Apple tablet has become the third most popular development platform. This comes as amazing considering that the Apple device hasn’t yet been unveiled. It

Generally, a Nokia mobile application isn’t something we’d cover around here. So I think first, I should give you a full disclosure: I got a demo of Nokia’s new Ovi Maps app at a breakfast event yesterday morning that may have included bacon. I am reasonably confident that said bacon didn’t influence my opinion more than a modest amount, but I just thought I’d let you know.

Anyway, let me cut directly to the chase and say that the biggest deal with Ovi Maps, as opposed to something like Google Maps, is that Ovi

This is one of those frightening stories that makes you wonder about the state of the world we live in. ComScore presented recently at the Mobile Games Forum in London, and within that presentation was the news that iPint (which is a beer/glass simulator for the iPhone, by Carling) is the most downloaded app in the UK!

Um hang on, rewind, start again?! The app, that people value the most for the iPhone (in the UK at least) is not a game (as such), it’s a simulator … of beer
