Nokia got engaged in a legal battle with Apple over patent and standards issues recently, and it appears they won’t spare any resources to try and win it – while also pushing the charges against Apple to a very high level. The last lawsuit filed by Nokia concerned GSM standards, and now they’ve launched another one, this time about “implementation patents” – which cover a wide range of technology used in Apple’s devices, including touchscreen and camera sensors.
So far however, the most severe action taken by Nokia is a complaint

Also in Apple news, say hello to the Magic Mouse. It’s a “two button” laser mouse, which has one button and no scroll wheel. Instead it has a multitouch surface across the top that allows you to do similar gestures like with the Mac trackpad: two-finger swipes, single-finger horizontal and vertical scrolling etc.
The wireless mouse has an impressive four-month battery life, and is available today for $69. Apple is marching toward a future devoid of buttons entirely. In case this mouse doesn’t make that clear.
But is it comfortable?

The 8.0.5 update of iMovie introduced the iFrame format, a video format based on H.264 that aims to make video editing in iMovie easier, faster and less resource-intensive.
Video formats can be confusing and there is often a lot of conversion involved when dealing with video, even if you want to do simple edits. Converting takes CPU cycles, battery life, disk resources and most importantly, it wastes your time. With iFrame, Apple hopes to cut down on the format-conversion time. For that to work, manufacturers need to add

Grand Central Dispatch may not exactly be a household name to the average Apple user, but it’s certainly a hot topic among developers, who may know it better as “libdispatch,” and are no doubt thrilled that Apple has now made the whole thing open source. Among other things, that means developers are now able to take full advantage of multi-core processors in Snow Leopard, which obviously has some fairly big implications for applications as soon as those developers are able to get a handle on things. Know what you’re doing? Just like to get in over your
