Acer Aspire 5738DG 3D notebook launched

Oh goodness, the silly 3D craze continues. Now Acer has an official 3D notebook. Acer didn’t go the hardware route, instead this relies on a software solution called Acer 3D CineReal, a special 3D coating on the screen, and polarizing glasses. Oh boy. It comes with the TriDef suite of software containing the TriDef Media Player which will play your movies back in 3D, while TriDef Ignition converts games from 2D to 3D and applications supporting DirectX 9 and above. Expect it to cost around £950. [Pocket-lint]

Acer Aspire One D250 boots in Android too

Check it out – the Acer Aspire One D250 netbook does not only run on Windows XP, but is full well capable of booting up in Google Android as well. The latter takes around 20 seconds to boot up, and when shutting down, it does so almost instantaneously, which is a far cry to what Windows XP can offer. Depending on your preference, you can pick the operating system of choice from the boot screen itself, although it doesn’t seem as though Acer has prepared the D250 for optimal Android use to date. Basically, it more or less

Acer Aspire One A110

Outside of the Asus Eee series, the Acer Aspire One models are the best-known netbooks on the market. Currently two models of the Aspire One A110 range are available, one featuring flash (SSD) storage and the other a more traditional hard drive. Acer Aspire Timeline 5810T

Though the Acer 5810T boasts a large 15.6 inch screen, its light and thin build means that you won’t be bogged down by this laptop when you’re taking it out and about. The 5810T’s body is an attractive metallic grey made out of plastic that while sturdy, is light enough to keep the weight of the laptop to around 2.4 kg. The big feature of the 5810T is the large battery life. Acer is keen for this laptop to be used for ‘all day computing’. Whilst it won’t manage a whole day of heavy use away from a power supply, the 5810T can manage around

Acer Aspire One 751

The Acer Aspire One is a prime example of the new breed of netbook. It’s an attractive looking machine, and is available in four different colours. It’s obvious that Acer want you to show off your Asipre One when out and about. As it weighs less than a kilo you will have no problem carrying it around with you. The flat keys of the keyboard feel a bit strange at first but it’s a small price to pay for getting such a slim computer. The Aspire One has enough power for running Windows XP smoothly, though it struggles a bit with demanding applications. Websites can
