In the same week that a replica of Eddie Van Halen’s Frank 2 guitar was given a permanent home in the Smithsonian Museum following the band’s successful North American tour of 2007/2008, Activision Blizzard has announced they’re dropping the Guitar Hero franchise.
It’s been six years since the Simon-esque plastic guitar game was first released on an unsuspecting public, but despite the game’s world-wide success there will be no more titles from the gaming giant, who also produce the successful World of Warcraft and Call of Duty series of games, where the company will

The once insanely popular ‘Guitar Hero’ seems to have run its course. Activision Blizzard has announced that it is all set to “disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit” and along with Guitar Hero, even True Crime: Hong Kong has been scrapped off the Activision map.
The reason for the axing of Guitar Hero is the apparent loss of interest in the music genre, which has given birth to the game and gave Activision a license to print money while it remained hot. But with multiplayer online shooting games now capturing all the attention (Read Call of Duty),

Digital distribution service Steam sold almost $1 billion of gaming titles in 2010, with the top 10 populated with titles from gaming giants Activision.
2010′s big Call of Duty games have unsurprisingly generated almost $140 million on Steam alone, mirroring the franchise’s console success.
While FPS games seem to dominate, strategy gaming is clearly still popular with the latest version of Sid Meier’s Civilization and Warhammer providing a strong presence.
But the real surprise is Portal – the sixth most popular game of 2010 on the Steam platform is nearing 4 years old

Treyarch has already put out a patch up update for the newly released Call of Duty: Black Ops and that is for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 users. But despite the patch update there seems to be quite a bit of hassle to all those who are trying to get in on the multiplayer game online. Well, to the surprise of many that seems to be not happening and a ‘Transmission error’ message is greeting many who are playing Black Ops multiplayer online.

If you’ve played Call of Duty: Black Ops for at least an hour, you would have noticed the plethora of immature gamer cards that are flooding the game. Most gamercards display a penis doing something vulgar with several fantasy creatures.
One of the rare but frustrating gamercards you will see is that of the Nazi Swastika. Every so often you’ll see that gamer with it and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Microsoft aims to fix this issue by banning the gamers who decide to use the notorious emblem.
“If you think the swastika symbol should be re-evaluated by societies all
