Those among you who have been waiting for an Android 2.3 Honeycomb update on your Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy Tab has something to cheer. Though unconfirmed, a rumor doing the rounds suggests that the two devices are likely to get the update by the end of the current quarter.

Do you live in Canada, own a Galaxy S smartphone (Vibrant on Bell or Captivate on Rogers) and wish you’d be getting the Android Froyo update sooner? You’re in luck as we’re hearing from Samsung Mobile Canada via Facebook that both mobiles will be upgraded sometime mid-December. Giorgio Armani and Samsung have again teamed up to launch another mobile phone, this time a Galaxy S smartphone. The new Giorgio Armani Samsung phone is basically an AT&T Captivate with Giorgio Armani’s logo. The phone will be available in Giorgio Armani boutiques and leading mobile retailers in Italy, France, the U.K., Germany, Dubai, China, Hong Kong, Spain, Russia and the Netherlands starting from December and the price will be about Euro 700.

Amazon Wireless have slashed the price of the Samsung Captivate. If on AT&T the Galaxy S variant costs $199.99 with a new two year plan or $499.99 if you don’t want commitment, Amazon will sell you one for $29.99 if you sign a new individual contract for 24 months, or $69.99 if you add a two year extension to your contract.

Canadians with a Rogers contract and some affinity for Samsung’s new Galaxy S smartphone, would be happy to know that the carrier has confirmed that Samsung Captivate will be launching for their clients sometime next week.

Just now, we had reported about Dell’s announcement that the Android 2.2 “Froyo” update for the Dell Streak is coming before the end of this year. Now, we have got information about the Froyo update for the Samsung Galaxy S. Samsung has provided the Froyo update source code via their Open Source Release Center.

Yesterday, we had reported about Samsung’s release of the Galaxy S’ Android 2.2 Froyo update source code. Now, we have got disappointing news related to the matter. The source code has now been removed from download by Samsung.
Samsung had provided the Froyo update source code via its Open Source Release Center. This release was thought to be a first step toward the release of the update for the series of Samsung Galaxy S smartphones such as the Fascinate, the Vibrant, the Captivate and the Epic 4G, which are available from the four major carriers in the US.

The Android 2.2 Froyo update to the Samsung Galaxy S might be coming in October. According to Samsung Mobile Spain fan page on Facebook, the smartphone might receive the Android 2.2 treatment sometime by the end of October.
Samsung had earlier confirmed that the update would be made available sometime in September. The company had also stated that all of its U.S. versions of the Samsung Galaxy S such as the Fascinate, Captivate, Epic, and Vibrant would also be upgraded to Froyo almost simultaneously as their European counterpart.

Seems like Samsung Galaxy S might soon become the most globally popular handset after the famed Apple iPhone versions. Galaxy S is set to arrive with four of the biggest US carriers and one of them (indeed two), AT&T, has even gone ahead and given the official nod-ahead. Announced today, AT&T users will be able to make the Samsung Captivate (AT&T specific version of the Galaxy S) their own, come July 18.
