This is not official news coming in from Google themselves, as Google have neither confirmed nor denied the latest reports and stats floating around on the web. But it seems more or less on the mark as a recent Gartner Research report indicates that the Android App market is thriving and growing at a very fast pace. With the popularity of the Android platform and the freedom that it seemingly offers users, it is more than certain that it is here to stay and maybe even dominate the mobile OS market. But few would have predicted the rate at which the ascent to the top has

You might remember that there was an announcement recently that the first “Google Experience” device, the Nexus One, will receive an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the near future, but there was no confirmation on the date of release of the update. Now, it seems that the recently launched Nexus S smartphone is now receiving its first update in the UK.
The update to the Nexus S is the Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread and it arrives over the air.
It appears that the news about the update comes via the XDA-Developers Forum, who is saying that the update is just under 2 MB, and

Is the match between Nokia and Android something that is destined to happen at sometime in the future for sure? Well, we might never find that happening officially anytime soon, but the fact that the Nokia N900 allows you to run almost any OS on it if you have the know-how, has already allowed people to enjoy the thought of Windows Phone 7 on it. Now it is the turn of Gingerbread to unleash its magic on the N900 and we are no doubt already floored at the prospect of Android and the Nokia merging together; even if it is not all official!

If there is one thing that is causing plenty of frustration in Samsung’s customers across the globe, then it is regarding the updates that the company seems to roll out. Most often, they are outdated, late and by the time you do indeed get your latest update, it seems anything but ‘latest’. That is exactly what Samsung Galaxy S users are feeling right now, especially those on Orange in UK. They have just received their Froyo update and that seems rather too little and too late, for all those with the Galaxy S.
Obviously, something is indeed better than nothing, but when

There could not be nicer guys than the folk up at North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Of course, they might be not always friendly and cute, but when it is the time of the year for snow, holiday cheer, Christmas tree and plenty of joy, they sure know how to tag along. In fact, they have been on it since 1955! Santa’s trip will once again be tracked across the globe this year as well with Google and NORAD doing their very best to keep up with the chimney sliding, present showering merry spree.

Verizon might be desperate to have the iPhone in its array of smartphones since apparently AT&T sold four times as many iPhones as Android handsets were sold by Verizon. But, despite that oddly glaring statistic, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S is doing pretty well for itself with its pre-set goal of 10 million sold handsets getting closer by the day. The latest news coming out of Samsung indicates that they already have 9.3 million users who are hooked to the Galaxy S and the 10 million landmark is not far away at all.
Many laughed at Samsung when they initially talked

If you are an Android-powered smart handset user on the AT&T network, this piece of news is for you. Google has just made official that Android Market purchases will now have carrier billing support from AT&T.
With the new decision, AT&T will start supporting carrier billing for Android Market purchases. This will, thereby, mean that AT&T subscribers will not be required to manually enter their credit card information to buy apps using the standard Google Checkout process.
Google has made it known that the charges will be automatically added to the monthly

Google wouldn’t have released its “Google Experience” smartphone, the Nexus S, at a better time. The device hit shelves this week right at the time of the holiday shopping frenzy.
