Apple officially announced its next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5 which is the thinnest and lightest iPhone yet. It is also the world’s slimmest smartphone measuring 7.6mm thick and is 18% thinner and 20% lighter than iPhone 4S. It has an anodized aluminum body with diamond cut chamfered edges and glass inlays. Apple changes the screen size of the iPhone for the first time, equipping the iPhone 5 with a 4-inch Retina 1366×640 display with 326 ppi pixel density that gives 18% more pixel and 40% more color saturation compare to the 3.5-inch Retina on iphone 4S.

Apple announced its latest iPhone, the iPhone 4S that has the same design as the iPhone 4. The new model sports a dual-core A5 processor and dual-core graphics chip, which, according to Apple, offers twice the processing power and up to seven times faster graphics than iPhone 4. The display remains the same, featuring a 3.5-inch 960×640 326ppi Retina Display. It gets a new 8 Megapixel camera with F/2.4 aperture, advanced hybrid IR filter that produce sharper, brighter and more accurate image and Full HD 1080p video recording.

At Verizon press event in New York City, the biggest carrier in the US announced the launch of CDMA iPhone 4. Don’t expect big changes. Apple has just updated the antenna of the iPhone 4 to work with Verizon’s CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz) 3G network.
Verizon’s CDMA iPhone will also come pre-loaded with iOS 4.2.5, including Personal Hotspot function for sharing 3G connection via WiFi (WiFi tethering). If you own a Motorola Atrix, may be, you are already aware of the problem by now. Motorola’s support forum is getting flooded with user complaints about the Atrix voice quality, with most of them saying that users of Atrix find their voice muffled when they use the device.
Those who migrated from iPhones and other similar devices feel that the difference is terrible. Though Motorola has admitted the existence of such an issue, they are yet to roll out a solution.

Is Apple gearing up for yet another iOS event? Speculations have it that the company is planning to launch the next major version of their mobile operating system – iOS 5.0 – this April. Rumor mills are having a field day, while hardcore Apple fans are looking forward to the arrival of iOS 4.3. The OS is scheduled for release on 11th of this month.
Apple has been holding major iOS versions preview events at its Cupertino headquarters every year during late March-April period. Likewise, the iOS 5 event would also be held at the company’s Cupertino premises.

Last week’s announcement of the iPad 2, was great. Lots of new features, the device looks much slicker and is much more powerful. But the hype is over and we’re now ready to start speculating on what the iPhone 5 will look like.
According to a report cited by MacRumors, when released, the new iPhone 5 is not going to feature the same glass backing; it will be replaced with an aluminum casing.
