NASA’s Puffin is the latest personal flying machine that will never be produced

Yes, this is going to be another flying car post in which we lament our current, terrestrial ways and our predominantly Earth-bound means of getting places. NASA has what it thinks is the solution, a personal flying machine called Puffin that is just large enough for a person to wedge themselves into before lurching off vertically, powered by a pair of electric motors. These motors are said to make the machine almost silent so an initial application could be covert battlefield insertions, meaning yet again those military brats get to have all the fun -- in theory. However,

Rethink Hanger Is A Clever Travel Accessory

While it was created to “encourage the reuse of already consumed items by forming a new functional product” the Rethink hanger also turns out to be a clever travel accessory. For whatever reason hotels seem to think their patrons only need 4 or 5 hangers in a closet that can easily store 10x that amount, so the Rethink allows you to easily carry extras in your suitcase without taking up too much space. The downside is that you’ll need to buy & drink 2 bottles of water for each hanger you intend to use, but when assembled it seems like it would be far

Kids CyberNet Station is an expensive AIO computer

I have on more than one occasion thought about going to an AIO computer that is quieter than my normal desktop. My machine has so much gear crammed inside that the drone of the fans can drive you crazy some days. If you are looking for an AIO to give to a kid as their first computer, a company called Kid Computers has one.The catch is that the machine sells for nearly $2,000, which many parents will consider a significant stretch for a first computer. A $500 to $1000 AIO from another manufacturer with netbook innards would be more appropriate in most cases. For the $2000, you get

TMT Tactical Wallet Is More Wallet Than You’ll Ever, Ever Need

Wallets are for storing your cash and credit cards and USB keys and stuff, and such a simple and straightforward use implies a simple and straightforward design. Is a Firmware Update killing PS3 Blu-Ray drives?

Say it ain’t so. Could a firmware update lead to the untimely death of your PS3’s Blu-Ray drive? Maybe. The actual cause is still unconfirmed, but many users over at the Playstation forums are reporting problems with Modern Warfare 2 after updating their consoles to the 3.10 firmware. They’re experiencing freezing while playing the game, and then after checking, experiencing more freezing in other games too. Speculation is that the firmware has somehow affected the Blu-ray drives. There isn’t any official answer yet, but you may want to pay close atention to how

$120 Pico Projector Is Almost Cheap Enough To Try

There’s some kind of threshold that electronics with a high cool factor but questionable usefulness have to cross in order for them to be worth buying, and this Sanwa pico projector is awfully close at $120. I can’t figure out how many lumens it is (safe to assume not many), and it only pushes out VGA (640 x 480), but it does take both data and power over USB, which is nice, and includes an assuredly crappy speaker. It weighs 85 grams and comes with a lil’ tripod, too. So yeah, it’s a pretty “meh” little thing (not nearly as fancy as the one
