Cowon introduces in Korea its new V5 HD portable media player that is capable of 720p HD video playback and offers HDMI and Composite video outputs. The V5 comes with a 4.8-inch 800×480 touchscreen display amd up to 32GB internal storage capacity.

MSI enters the HD media player market and rolls out in Germany the Movie Station HD1000 network-ready HD media player. The HD1000 supports Full HD 1080p video output via HDMI 1.3. The player no internal storage but supports USB external storage devices. It can also connect to your home network for media streaming from other PCs.

MSI launches in China the MT-V887 portable media player that is based on Rockchip’s RK2728B chipset. Available in 4GB and 8GB, the V887 has a 4.3-inch 480×272 LCD display. LaCie announced the new LaCinema Classic HD, a HD media player with up to 2TB of internal storage. Serves as an upgrade to the LaCinema Classic, the device is capable of 1080p Full HD output and has built-in DLNA media server. Other than internal storage, it provides USB ports for expansion.

Princeton launches the PAV-MP1 HD media player for our friends in Japan. The MP1 supports Full HD 1080p output and is able to handle most media files including H.264, MPEG4-AVC, RMVB files.

Princeton PAV-MP1 has no internal storage but two USB 2.0 ports for connecting USB hard drives or flash drives. It offers also Ethernet LAN port for media streaming from network PC or storage. In addition to HDMI, the HD player includes RCA video output as well.

Japanese company Digital Cowboy introduces an update to the Movie Cowboy DC-MCNP1 networked media player, called DC-MCNP1/W. The new model comes with built-in support for WiFi 802.11b/g/n connecitivty for wireless streaming.

Each time I watch YouTube or other video on my iPhone I wish the thing had better video quality. ZiiLABS, a Creative subsidiary, has announced a new media processor aimed at portable devices like netbooks, media hubs, web tablets and more called the ZMS-08.

The media processor promises full 1080p Blu-ray quality video for low-power handheld devices. The chip supports 1080p encode and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics. X-Fi audio is also supported by the processor.
